Preparing Images for Print Competitions

Images may be transferred to paper using either chemical or computer methods, by the photographer or commercially.

Any artistic manipulation of the image must be the work of the photographer, not the commercial printer (if used).

All prints must be mounted, by the photographer or commercially.See the Club Competition Rules pdf icon concerning mount sizes.

The image size is at the discretion of the photographer, except:-

  • As restricted by mount sizes when these are mandatory (Exhibition entries),
  • Open competition class 3 images are restricted to 28cm on the longest side,
  • Small Print competition images are restricted to 15cm on the longest side.

Prints are judged anonymously. This is achieved by limiting the information to be provided on the back of the mount to the image title, the competition class (if applicable), comment only (if applicable), and one of the two competition numbers allocated by the prints secretary. Where a competition allows three entries per member, one of the competition numbers is re-used. The entrant's name should not appear.
